POST-SEASON INFORMATION
2023-2024

Information for PIAA girls wrestling post-season
championship events

Junior High/Middle School

JH/MS does not have a PIAA established post-season, as is true for all PIAA sponsored JH sports. Some districts may have individual JH league or end of season events - this is established by each district. Coaches and ADs should contact their district chair or coaches association rep to determine if a JH event will be held and if a specific girls division will be added.

High School Post-Season Overview

Girls HS wrestling now has a PIAA individual post-season. A PIAA HS team championship event has not yet been established - it may be established in the future by the PIAA.

The individual post-season includes districts, Regionals, and States. Post-season events do NOT count towards a school's allotted competition points for the season.

To compete in the individual post-season, a girl must be rostered on a PIAA team and be eligible by PIAA policy. 9th grade girls who were rostered at the JH level during the season are not eligible for the HS post-season. Girls who are rostered on a boys HS team, when a girls team is not available at their school, are eligible to opt into the girls post-season. These girls may choose between the girls and boys post-season - they can compete in one, but not both. Girls at schools who have a girls team AND a boys team and have chosen to roster on the boys team, are not eligible for the girls post-season.

A school may enter one girl per weight class into the post-season. The weight classes used will continue to be the 13 NFHS weight classes for girls that were adopted by the PIAA (100, 106, 112, 118, 124, 130, 136, 142, 148, 155, 170, 190, 235).

An overview of districts/sectionals, regionals, and states is below. Further information on the post-season can be obtained from the PIAA website here. PIAA district wrestling chairs and appointed tournament directors will disseminate specific information to schools and will serve as the point of contact for the events.
